How Regular folks are making a serious living selling books on Amazon
The first time I learnt about people making money selling books was after reading an article in Woman’s world.
Sonja Jones from Santa Clarita California was sharing how she makes $250 a month selling old books on Amazon.
Her biggest score happened when a neighbor gave her 2 bags of books for free which she ended up selling for $1,000.
But it’s not just regular books that sell. Another very profitable niche is with Text books since they are so expensive. If you have textbooks laying around that you want to turn into cash you can do it online by visiting online marketplaces like www.bookscouter.com and www.cash4books.net.
It’s a simple self serve format where all you have to do is create an account, submit the books you have and receive an offer. You can then just ship your books to the site to get paid.
Now while some folks are earning a few extra dollars on the side or cashing out on some old books, some folks are making a serious living selling textbooks online.
Folks like Like Kathy Heselow from Saint Petersburg, Florida who made over $185,000 in sales in here first 12 months in business. Or Victor Kowalenko, a retired school teacher from Toronto, Ontario who did over $90,000 and Cyril Zintchem from Silver Springs, MA who did over $100,000 this year alone.
Another thing that they have in common is that they are all doing it from the comfort of their home.
So what makes the difference between the ones just making a few extra dollars a month and the ones making a serious living?
Some are just going at it alone. Doing it on the side. Others invested in themselves through a coaching program that helped them graduate from total newbies to experts.
There are a few of these programs out there but one in particular seemed to stand out since all Kathy, Victor & Cyril are students. It’s called Text book profits. It was created by a former math teacher who put himself through night computer science at Georgia tech and graduated with honors. He built a platform that keeps track of every single sale that happens on Amazon.
Think of it as an MLS (multiple listing system) but in this case instead of being houses and properties, for the real estate of books.
Using that software allows his students to identify which books are loaded with profits. Together with his co-founder, Luke Sample they built a system that has helped over 700 students to earn a living for themselves running the business online from the comfort of their home.
When I asked Mr Shugart why his program had such a high success rate for the students he shared that ‘It’s not just the information or the software tools, but it’s the community that makes the difference’.
‘It’s a community of like-minded entrepreneurs that go out of their way to help each other. It’s a family’ says Luke Sample.
Now there is one thing all students agree on is that they enjoy for the first time the freedom of time and location.
‘I used to be stuck in a cubicle, now I’m earning over $100,000 a year from the house while enjoying my wife with our first baby on the way. I’m blessed’ says Cyril Zintchem.
And he’s as excited about the community as Jon & Luke.
‘It’s not just the money. It’s the opportunity to help others that are starting just like I did.
That to me is what you can’t put a price on. It feels good and the more I do it, the better it gets. I even got a nickname ‘Cy the book guy’ he says smiling.
